Bangkok firefighter demonstrates what to do when you find a snake in your bathroom

A Bangkok firefighter has demonstrated a quick, useful tip on precisely what to do when you encounter a snake in your bathroom.

Somjet Kondabya, a firefighter and expert in snake capture, last week shared footage of how he distracts a king cobra that’s aggressively spreading its hood at him while he’s sitting on a toilet.

The good news is, all you need is a towel to escape that predicament.

“Use a towel. Spread it out. Slowly cover the cobra with it. That’s it. Now you may walk out of the bathroom,” Somjet said in a clip, that has been viewed 1.4 million times since it was posted Wednesday.

And what if you don’t have a towel in reaching distance from the toilet? Somjet wrote that you can simply take off your shirt in a pinch and and throw it at the serpent.

Of course, the next step, as Somjet suggests in the caption, is to make a hasty exit from the bathroom and call 199 so professional firefighters like himself can handle the situation.

In case you think you don’t need the advice, we’ll remind you that, last year, Bangkok removed a total of 4,612 snakes from people’s homes. Of course, 4,519 of them were nonvenomous pythons, so maybe that makes the situation a little less terrifying.
