“Act like a girl”, girl can do anything beyond the boundary that people assume

Do we limit girls and tell them what they should and shouldn’t be?

Parents usually said that girl should do this, shouldn’t do that. And they think that it is the way they are teaching their daughter. However, by that way, we are setting limits to the development of the girl. Parents may say “Girls should not play football”, “Girls should study social science rather than natural science because it is less challenging” but they don’t know that maybe their daughters are good at football or really keen on Math, engineering. Remember that Marie Curie is a female scientist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity and also the first woman winning Nobel Prize.

The video was made by Always to encourage the confidence of all the girl over the world. Always asked, and the answer was shocking: 72% of girls DO feel society limits them – especially during puberty – a time when their confidence totally plummets. Always is on an epic battle to keep girls’ confidence high during puberty and beyond!

These girls said "yes" when being asked " Have you ever been talked because you are a girl, you shouldn't do something?"

The #LikeAGirl social experiment started a conversation to boost confidence by changing the meaning of “like a girl” from an insult to a total compliment. And – with the help from girls featured on the video – that conversation turned into major movement sweeping the entire globe.

Boxes are things people tend to assume what a girl is, and the girls want to break them.

Girls would like to prove that they can do anything.

For more than three decades, Always has made the mission to empower young girls worldwide by educating millions of them about puberty and their cycle, so they can feel confident – any day of the month.

In conclusion, we should not limit girls basing on gender-specific ideas. We should listen to their inside voice about what they love, what their passion is. Listening to girls’ voices is a great way to boost their confidence and resilience.

Here are some quotes that can inspire girls:

“Be what you want to be, not others want to see”

“Diamonds aren’t a girl’s best friend. Freedom is.”

“Beauty isn’t about a pretty face. It’s having about a pretty mind, a pretty heart, a pretty soul.”
