Mr. Liem is 1.75 m tall, weighs 87 kg and lives in Ho Chi Minh City with his family. As getting older, the human body faces many problems with the skin, bones and functions of the impaired organs. But the 67-year-old man has never had to take an antibiotic pill or go to hospital. He said that the secret is ‘maintaining practising daily’.
Daily, he wakes up at 6am and walks in a duration of 40 minutes to an hour in a park near his home. After that, he went to the gym room for another 2 hours of practising.
At the age of 17, Mr. Liem joined the boxing club to improve his ‘skinny’ body. After that, he switched to gym to get a better physique.
‘Gym has been with me for nearly 50 years as part of life,’ he said.
‘I just hope that it will be morning to get to the gym, staying home is so boring,’ Mr. Liem said.
Mr. Liem is the oldest guest in the gym and also the most regular trainee. He said that even though it was still rainy, he did not give up any day. With a long training background, he has never been injured.
He often divided exercises by day. The day of practicing the chest, the abdomen, the hand training day, then turning around. This help his body more flexible and more durable. He is now confident to push 70 kg of weight easily.
Gym requires perseverance and understanding. For the elderly, Mr. Liem believes that the main purpose of the practice is to be strong and supple. As for the young people, hitting gym is to have a proportioned-body and to compete in bodybuilding.
